Do I need an account?: Not to study. Writing your cards, reviewing, checking your statistics, backing up: all of it works without signing in to anything. An account does two optional things — carrying your cards from one device to another, and browsing the catalogue of ready-made sets. You sign in with Apple or Google, there is no password to create, and deleting the account takes one tap in the app.
Does it work offline?: Yes, for everything that counts. Your sets live in a local database, and a whole session runs with no network at all. The network is only used by the features that genuinely need it: the store during a purchase, the ads in the free mobile version, and — if you use them — syncing and the catalogue.
Are my cards synced between my devices?: Yes, if you ask for it. Sign in from Settings, then tap “Sync now”. The app puts an archive of your library on your account, and your other devices pick it up. You trigger every exchange: nothing goes out in the background. One archive per account, the newest replacing the one before it.
What is the catalogue?: Sets that are already written and ready to install: some free, some paid. You reach it from the library, through the store icon. Browsing it requires being signed in, because it is your account that remembers what you own — a set bought on Android opens afterwards on your iPhone. Every purchase is one-time; there is no subscription, anywhere.
Can I have AI write a deck for me?: Yes. Describe your topic in one sentence, choose a short deck or a full one, and the cards get written. This is what no catalogue will ever cover: one specific chapter, the jargon of a trade, an exam next week. The feature runs on credits — one ad watched gives you one, a one-time purchase gives you ten. Only the topic you write goes to the model provider: not your cards, not your progress, not your identity. A deck you are unhappy with can be reported from the set menu.
Can I review in both directions?: Yes, from a checkbox. “Canada / Ottawa” and “Ottawa / Canada” then become two independent cards, each with its own progress — because recognising an answer and recalling it are not the same knowledge.
Can I lose my work?: Every answer is written down the moment you give it, so an abrupt shutdown never costs you a review you had already done. To guard against losing the device itself, export a backup: Settings, then Backup. You can also sign in and sync.
Do I start from a blank page?: Four sets are offered the first time you open the app, to carry you until you have written your own: a getting-started set, essential English, irregular verbs and the periodic table. You can decline them, edit them or delete them like any other set.
How much does it cost?: On Android and iPhone the app is free, with a discreet banner, and a one-time purchase removes it. On Windows there are no ads at all: the free version holds up to three sets, and the full version lifts that limit. Paid sets from the catalogue are bought one at a time. No subscription, on any platform.
On which devices?: Android, iPhone and iPad, and Windows. The app comes in French and English, with a light theme and a dark theme that follow your system.
Are there streaks I must not break?: No. No leaderboard, no streak counter, no rewards, no notification that makes you feel guilty. You review when you want to; the app only tells you what is due.
